About Chan Huy

Dharma Teacher Chân Huy, B.Sc, MSc. and MBA, teaches the art of mindful living in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village.  Ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1994 as a lay dharmacarya (dharma teacher),  Chan Huy offers Dharma talks and leads retreats and other mindfulness activities across Canada and the United States. Chan Huy also serves as the main teacher for our communiy and many other communities such as Laughing Rivers Sangha in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,  Beginner’s Mind Sangha in Boise, Idaho, Heartland Sangha in Kansas City, Missouri, and Wabi Sabi Sangha in Santa Barbara, California.  In Canada where he resides, Chan Huy serves as the principal teacher of the Community of Mindful Living of Montréal in 1997, which he founded.

Born in France of Vietnamese parents, Minh Tran (Chan Huy) elected domicile in Canada in 1968 at the age of 18. After studying electrical engineering at Laval University, he served as a consultant to engineering firms in Montreal, while continuing his studies at UQAM. In 1984, he obtained a Master in Project Management and in 1992, a Master in Business Administration. Chan Huy also trained in mindful Practice in medical education at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester Medical Center

He is now married and father of two girls and has recently retired after playing an integral role in the Canadian Forces Health Reform Project.
